Transdisciplinary Play-Based Assessment (TPBA)
This model does not provide your standard score measurement, but looks at comprehensive developmental milestones during the path of early development. So many standardized tools today are limited in explaining a comprehensive profile of a child and parents experience much frustration as test battery after test battery does not explain the child they know they have at home. The TPBA is well tested in reliability, stood the test of time, and looks comprehensively at cognitive, social-emotional, communication and language, as well as sensorimotor development. If you really want to know the developmental profile of your child across all 4 domains, this assessment is for you. The assessment is also goal based, which is very helpful for the IEP process.
How TPBA is provided through A Total Approach
- Call our office at 484 840 1529 and complete an initial intake sheet, stating your interest in this type of evaluation.
- One of our therapists will call you back to obtain additional information and to answer any further questions you may have. Depending on the course of action the family may decide to take a team assessment is scheduled. There will be two dates scheduled with the family, one for the initial assessment with their child, and a second appointment with only the parents to go over the results in a team discussion format.
- A packet of information and questionnaires will be sent out to the family upon scheduling the actual assessment. The family does not have to return this via mail, but simply complete it and give it to the team upon the date of the assessment.
- The family members attend a full two hour session working with the team in assessing the child. This session is also video taped for the therapists to use it for data after the initial assessment has been completed.
- The team of therapists spend time together and individually to prepare a written document for the parents.
- The parents meet with the therapy team at a second appointment to discuss the results and a possible action plan and/or recommendations.
