Irlen Syndrome
At A Total Approach we constantly search for answers and investigate viable programs to assist us in helping families more diligently and effectively. We have been Irlen Syndrome Screening providers for the past 5 years, and now recently (in 2008) have become diagnosticians as well. This qualifies us to be able to prescribe the specific tints necessary in a person's eye glasses to prevent them from being overcome with light in their environment and on the printed page for reading caused by the brain not receiving the visual information from light at the correct speed and timing. The colored overlays work very well for reading, but are cumbersome when it comes to writing and does not assist with light in the environment.
Irlen Syndrome Services in Brief
- The pre-screening tool (PASS) is included in our comprehensive evaluation
- A comprehensive evaluation as well as a 2 hour screening are available.
- Color overlay(s) that work for the client will be determined
- PASS screening as part of our comprehensive evaluation.
- A diagnostic evaluation will determine the tint color for client lenses. Tintes glasses will be sent from the laboratory directly to the clients home.
- This prgram is for all ages.
- There is a different testing procedure available for those on the Autism spectrim who are unable to comply with the testing. This is better explained at www.irlen.com.
- ATA hosts the Irlen Syndrome screeners in the Tri-state area for their annual cluster meetings, including Maryland as well.
- ATA also provide training for professionals interested in becoming screeners.
