The P.L.A.Y. Project
We are bringing this program home to you as the parent, enabling and empowering you to harness the best of your child and watch them develop and grow by your hand. Please download the attached PDF file for more information on the program and follow the appropriate links to the official website to gain more information.
We have been doing DIR/Floortime at our facility with great success now for a number of years and we have listened and learned from our families and children. We are very pleased to be able to bring trained Floortime practitioners to your home to provide assistance where you need it most. Our Floortime Practitioners also have the advantage of knowledge of sensory integration and other aspects of our center based programs and a team of professionals that would work together in a team approach to benefit your child at home.
How would this program work?
- Call Joyce at 484 840 1529, who will complete an intake sheet and take it to the appropriate therapist for follow up.
- You will receive another call from a therapist to talk about your exact needs and situation and set up an evaluation date. The evaluation is very necessary to obtain baseline data from which progress over the months will be gleaned.
- Your first appointment will be a comprehensive 3-hour evaluation at our offices in Glen Mills. With this deep dive into your child's sensory, learning and social-emotional challenges, we create a profile used to develop a unique program to meet your child's needs in your home.
- At the time of the evaluation a consultation meeting appointment will be set to discuss the results of the testing
- The evaluating therapist will then spend time to complete the scoring and taking the information to other team members for final analysis.
- At the consultation meeting we discuss your child's profile, potential for the program and other logistics.
- You may elect to sign an agreement for the next year at this meeting, or go home and think about the results first. In the latter situation, we do not call you, but wait for you until you are ready to make the commitment of 12 months.
- The agreement will include a 3-hour monthly home visit with a trained P.L.A.Y. Project Partner for period of at least one year (can be extended). During each visit your P.L.A.Y Partner will assess progress, tweak goals and teach strategies to work on for the next month. Your Partner will model techniques to be used on the floor, coach parents and other caregivers and help identify ways to generalize techniques in home and school environments. Finally, most importantly, your Partner will videotape a portion of your session.
- The video is analyzed by Maude le Roux (DIR Certificate), who views the tape and provides voice-over feedback on a 15 minute segment of the video. A CD containing the audio commentary and the video is sent back to the parents within two weeks. Parents can then view the video, learn from Maude's commentary and see the subtleties and nuances they may not have seen in the moment.
- A written report containing data tracking, goals, activity ideas and floortime principles to draw from will accompany the CD within two to three weeks of the monthly session.
