Captain's Log Program
We have been doing Sensory Integration therapy for many years and Sound Therapy extensively for the past 5 years and were looking for a program that could bridge the gap between the fundamental brainstem and midbrain processing to academic tasks. We were excited to have found this new and updated version of Captain's Log and impressed with the many different parameters in which to fine-tune each individual program. We have never liked a "one size fits all" approach, no matter how appealing the simplicity of this philosophy might be. We are finding it to be quite an important adjunct to our current service portfolio and an important "next step" in our developmental ladder of treatment planning.
Captain's Log Services at A Total Approach
- The Captain's Log program could either be one of the recommendations stemming from one of our comprehensive evaluations or an individual could make an appointment for a two hour screening specifically pertaining to Captain's Log.
- The Captain's Log screening will include the well-known IVA Test for visual and auditory attention.
- The basic treatment protocol consists of 1 hour every day for a period of 20 days, while attending our center. This could vary due to the individual profile of the child.
- During the school year, the time slot is allocated for 4pm Monday through Friday. Times vary throughout summer.
- Depending on the profile of the child an IVA assessment may also be included in our comprehensive evaluation.
